Use a vertical format or horizontal format to add or subtract:
(6x-5) - (8x+15) + (3x-4)
Just drop the parentheses around the first and third sets of parentheses. When you drop the second set of parentheses,the - in front of it is the same as multiplying the two terms by -1, which changes the signs.
6x-5-8x-15+3x-4
Combine like terms
x-24
