how do i express the area as a polynomial?
A square has sides of length 3x-2cm.

Remember the formula for the Area of the square?
A = s^2 or s * s
if side = 3x - 2, then
A = (3x - 2)^2 or (3x - 2) * (3x - 2)
= 3x(3x) + 3x(-2) + (-2)3x + (-2)(-2)
= 9x^2 - 6x - 6x + 4
= 9x^2 - 12x + 4 cm
