Question 711227: Multiply the following and simplify by adding like monomials into a single polynomial
(a) (2x+1)[(x+3)(3x-1)]
(b) (2x+y)^2 (y squared)
Answer by tutor_paul(519) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2x+1)[(x+3)(3x-1)]
--------------------
Multiply out the binomial within the brackets first:
Next, multiply through the (2x+1) term:
Combine like terms and you are done:
--------------------
(2x+y)^2 (y squared)
--------------------
I am not sure what this means... is it this?
If so... Square the binomial first:
Multiply though the y^2 term:
There are no like terms to combine, so you are done (assuming the original expression is right!)
