how many yards of fencing will Jim need?

Divide that area by the length

Factor the numerator, then cancel the (3x+4)'s
= 3x+1 is the width
:
Only 3 sides need to be fenced
f = (3x+4) + 2(3x+1)
f = 3x + 4 + 6x + 2
f = (9x + 6) yds of fence required
