Find the value of k that will make x-2
a factor of x4-3x3+4x2+2x+k

Use synthetic division
     __________________
  2 | 1  -3   4   2   k
    |     2  -2   4  12
      1  -1   2   6  k+12

Set the remainder k+12 equal to zero
and solve for k

   k + 12 = 0
        x = -12
