Question 678858: What is log(base)3(x+1)-log(base)3(X+5)=2
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
log(base)3(x+1)-log(base)3(X+5)=2
You can write this as a single log, neg means divide
= 2
:
Write it as the exponent equiv of logs
=
= 9
Mult both sides by (x+5)
x + 1 = 9(x+5)
x + 1 = 9x + 45
1 - 45 = 9x - x
-44 = 8x
x = -44/8
x = -5.5, you can't have a neg value in a log, so I don't think this is a valid problem
