Question 664239: How can you factor the trinomial 2x to the second power plus 13x plus fifteen?
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x^2 + 13x + 15 = 0
(2x + )(x + ) = 0 both plus sign due to positive 13 and 15
Find multiple of 15 that when one is multiplied by 2 will add to 13
5,3 works since 2*5=10 + 3*1 = 13
(2x + 3)(x + 5)
2x+3=0 so x= -3/2
x+5=0 so x= -5
....
Check with FOIL
2x^2 + 10x + 3x + 15 = 0
2x^2 + 13x + 15 = 0
