When you state your problem, you need to state it clearly so it's easily understood by everyone. Regarding this problem, it's not at all clear to me what's required.
Is it an expression that needs simplifying???
Is it an equation that equal to something, if so, what???
Since you came you came up with 5/6 as an answer, I am inclined to think that it's an equation. So I will assume that the equation is:
5x-3/6=x+5/6 (I am assuming that the "minus" sign should be an "equal" sign)
First, subtract x from both sides and we get:
5x-x-3/6=5/6
Next, add 3/6 to both sides:
5x-x=3/6+5/6 simplifying we have:
4x=8/6
x=2/6 or 1/3
If my assumption is incorrect, then you may want to re-state your problem.
