Question 629350: Subtract the following polynomials:
(-8x^3 + x) - (-6x + 8 + 4x^3)

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

(-8x³ + x) - (-6x + 8 + 4x³)

Place a 1 in front of both parentheses:

1(-8x³ + x) - 1(-6x + 8 + 4x³)

Remove the parentheses by distributing the 1 and the -1 into
the parentheses:

-8x³ + 1x + 6x - 8 - 4x³

I'll color the like terms the same color:

-8x³ + 1x + 6x - 8 - 4x³

Combine the red terms and the blue terms:

-12x³ + 7x - 8
