Question 626387: I have looked at many posts of almost the same questions and am confused, the question is: The cost, in millions of dollars, to remove x % of pollution in a lake is modeled by the equation 6000/200-2x. what is the cost to remove %75,%90,%99. First off shouldn't the percentages be converted to decimal? Then, do I divide 6000 by 200 first or should I multiply 2* the percentage first? Any change will offer the wrong answer.

I have looked at many posts of almost the same questions and am confused, the question is: The cost, in millions of dollars, to remove x % of pollution in a lake is modeled by the equation 6000/200-2x. what is the cost to remove %75,%90,%99. First off shouldn't the percentages be converted to decimal? Then, do I divide 6000 by 200 first or should I multiply 2* the percentage first? Any change will offer the wrong answer.
-------------------
6000/200-2x
The equation can be made to use the %, or the decimal value
6000/200-200x using the decimal value would give the same result.
And, it's 6000/(200-2x), just sloppiness on the part of the presenter, or the author.
----------
75%: C = 6000/(200 - 150) = 120 million
etc
