factoring:
(x+8)(x-6) | watch Your signs while factoring... Outside terms and Inside terms = 2x
F First terms x^2
O Outside terms -6x
I Inside terms 8x
L Last terms -48

You are looking for two numbers whose product is -48 and which combine to make +2. By trial and error you will find that the two numbers are +8 and -6
So the factors are (x+8)(x-6)
