I am not sure how the answer is coming up as an "m+1+ or "m-1" I am a complete math idiot, so I really need someone who can show me step by step, not just give me an answer, as this is my last class before applying to the nursing program, and I need to understand this for the final, not just be able to rely on finding the answer. We can simplify this, factor out 2
2(2m^2 - 9m + 7)
Further factor this to
2(2m - 7)(m - 1)
Confirm this by FOILing (2m-7)(m-1), this will help you understand what we are doing here
:
15m^3 + 24m^2 + 9m
Simplify this by factoring out 3m
3m(5m^2 + 8m + 3)
Factor this to
3m(5m + 3)(m + 1)
Confirm this to yourself, FOIL (5m+3)(m+1)
:
15m^2 - 10m - 25
Factor out 5
5(3m^2 - 2m - 5)
Factors to
3(3m - 5)(m + 1)
FOIL this to confirm it
:
50m^3 - 2m
Simplify, factor out 2m
2m(25m^2 - 1)
we recognize this as the "difference of squares" factor to
2m(5m+1)(5m-1)
FOIL this, you can see that the middle terms will cancel each other out
:
3m^2 - 10m + 8
(3m - 4)(m - 2)
:
60m^3 + 54m^2 - 6m
Factor out 6m
6m(10m^2 + 9m - 1)
factor this to
6m(10m-1)(m+1)
Here again FOIL, this will help you get familiar with this. FOILing then reversing the process, see the the three terms each have an operation
