Mult the eq by y, gets rid of the denominator and you have:
y - 6 = 5y
y - 5y = + 6
-4y = +6
y = 6/-4
y = -3/2

A good common denominator is 12b, mult eq by 12b and you have:
4(2) - 3b(3) = 2(1)
8 - 9b = 2
-9b = 2 - 8
-9b = -6
b = -6/-9
b = + 2/3

Since there is only one term on each side of equal sign, you can cross mult here
4(2-a) = 8(a+1)
8 - 4a = 8a + 8
-4a - 8a = 8 - 8
-12a = 0
