8(x-2)=7(x+8)
8x-16=7x+56
8x-7x=56+16
x=72

8%2F%28x%2B8%29+=+7%2F%28x-2%29 Cross-multiply.
8%28x-2%29+=+7%28x%2B8%29 Simplify.
8x-16+=+7x%2B56 Subtract 7x from both sides.
x-16+=+56 Add 16 to both sides.
x+=+72
