Question 55032: I've done another problem similar that solved completely, but with a remainder, I am getting confused.
Problem: 2y to the third - 3y to the second +6 all over y to the second + 2
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2y to the third - 3y to the second +6 all over y to the second + 2
-----------------
[2y^3-3y^2+6]/[y^2+2]
Using long division of polynomials I get:
Quotient: 2y+3
Remainder: -4y
