5x goes into 5x^2 ___ x times

x times 5x-1 is ___ 5x^2-x

5x^2-16x minus 5x^2-x is ___ -15x

5x goes into -15x ___ -3 times

-3 times 5x-1 is ___ -15x+3

-15x minus -15x+3 is ___ -3 (this is the remainder)

so the answer is ___ (x-3) R -3
