Question 50560: How do you solve x^4-10x+25=0 for x? Please use factoring and show and explain each step. Thank you so much.
Answer by tutorcecilia(2152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^4-10x+25=0 for x [First, factor the equation]
(x^2-5)(x^2-5)=0 [Set each factor equal to zero and solve for x]
x^2-5=0
x^2=5
sqrtx^2=sqrt5
x=sqrt5
.
Since both factors are the same, it is not necessary to solve for x. Both answers will be x=sqrt5.
