Question 468673: where do i start? Tell me what I did wrong
Solve
(y-1/y-4)=(3/y-4)is y =4 or 2,-2

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20086) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve
%28y-1%29%2F%28y-4%29=3%2F%28y-4%29
Multiply both sides by %28y-4%29

y-1+=+3

+y+=+4

But we must check a solution to a
rational equation in the original
rational equation to make sure we do
not have an extraneous answer:

%28y-1%29%2F%28y-4%29=3%2F%28y-4%29

%284-1%29%2F%284-4%29=3%2F%284-4%29

3%2F0=3%2F0

That looks correct, but it is meaningless
because division by 0 is not defined.

Therefore there is no solution.
