subtract and simplify

Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(7x^4 + 8x^3 - 5) - (5x^2 - 4x + 1)
= 7x^4 + 8x^3 - 5 - 5x^2 + 4x - 1 {took out parentheses, watch signs on 2nd set}
= 7x^4 + 8x^3 - 5x^2 + 4x - 6 {combined like terms and wrote in decreasing order of exponents}
