Why doesn't the book's answer have a y someplace in it?

I've been wondering the same thing, Ed. I really can't wrap my head around this problem. I'm getting most of my other answers correct. And if I do have something wrong, it's usually just a simple mistake that I've overlooked. This really doesn't make sense to me at all. Perhaps it's a printing error. I'll ask my professor in class.
