The function f(x) = 180x/100 – x models the cost, f(x) in millions of dollars, to remove x% of a rivers pollutants. If the government commits $420 million for this project, what percentage of the pollutants can be removed?

180x/100 – x = 420
180x-100x=42000 Multiply each side by 100.
80x=42000
x=525
