Question 438304: I need to solve by factoring and using the principle of zero products.
question: 9x^2-4=0
I know 9 has a square root of 3 and 4 has a square root of 2 so should I use the steps of "difference of squares" or "perfect square trinomial" to factor? Oh wait is that even a trinomial equation?
I did this one but there are like terms so I know what the GCF is to pull out. The problem I need help with doesn't have like terms.
x^2+18x=0
x(x+18)=0
x=0 x=-18

F First terms
O Outside terms
I Inside terms
L Last terms
9x^2-4=0
factoring: Note:SUM of the outside terms(-6x) and the inside terms(6x) = 0
(3x+2)(3x-2) = 0
using the principle of zero products
(3x+2)=0
3x = -2 x = -2/3
(3x-2)=0
3x = 2 x = 2/3
