Solve for x: x+1/x=-7/x+12
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for x:
Assume the problem is:
=
Cross multiply, results
-7x = (x+1)*(x+12)
FOIL
-7x = x^2 + 12x + x + 12
A quadratic equation
x^2 + 13x + 7x + 12 = 0
x^2 + 20x + 12 = 0
Use the quadratic formula to find two solutions
I got: x ~ -19.381; x ~ -.619
