Question 429122: solve by factoring
x^2+1=-2x
answer is (x-1)^2=0
my question is how do I show my work for checking this answer.
I don't know what it is even suppose to look like.
thankyou.

Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2+1=-2x
x^2+2x+1=0
(x+1)(x+1)=0
.
To find 'x', set (x+1) to zero and solve:
x+1 = 0
x = -1
.
To check, plug back into original equation:
x^2+1=-2x
(-1)^2+1=-2(-1)
1+1 = 2
2 = 2 (checks)
