I am having trouble dividing/simplifying this problem. If it were multiplication I would have no problem using the FOIL method. But that division sign throws me off.

            2x² -  5x + 13
x + 2) x² -  x² +  3x -  1
      2x² + 4x²
           -5x² +  3x
           -5x² - 10x
                  13x -  1

2x² - 5x + 13 + —————
                x + 2

Simplify the signs on the remainder fraction:

                  27 
2x² - 5x + 13 - —————
                x + 2
