My guess is that you are trying to completely factor this expression. If that is the case, then let's look at using a "grouping" technique for factoring.
Note that the last expression has a common factor of x which can be factored out leaving:
(x + 1) + x(x + 1)
Note, now there is a common factor of (x + 1) in both terms. We can factor that out leaving:
(x + 1)(1 + x)
Rearranging the terms in the second factor (which you can do because addition is commutative), we have (x + 1)(x + 1) =
