Your best bet with fractional equations to to multiply eveyrthing by the lowest common denominator in order to clear the fractions...so for
1/2x^2 + 5x + 25/2 = 0
we multiply by 2 and get
x^2 + 10x + 25 = 0
Now factor and solve as usual...
(x + 5)^2 = 0
x = -5 (double root)
