Question 408275: Hi, I finished this equation and was not sure about to simplify the final answer. Would you check it for me and show me how to do it? Thanks.
(x+2)/(3)+(x-1)/(4)=(9)/(2)
Common denominator is 12 and mulitply by it
12 (x+2)/(3)+ 12 (x-1)/(4) = 12 (9)/(2)
4x+2+3x-1=54
4x+3x+2-1=54
7x+1=54
-1 -1
(7x)/(7x) = (53)/(7)
x = 7 (4)/(7)

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x+2)/(3)+(x-1)/(4)=(9)/(2)
Common denominator is 12 and mulitply by it
12 (x+2)/(3)+ 12 (x-1)/(4) = 12 (9)/(2)
---
4(x+2) + 3(x-1) = 6*9
----
4x+8 + 3x-3 = 54
---
7x+5 = 54
7x = 49
x = 7
