Question 405104: What is the number needed to resolve this problem, if 3/5 of a certain number is subtracted from a number and the result is 6?
My attempt to solve this problem is as follows:
Let x = a certain number
So, 3/5 - x/1 = 6
The LCD = 5
Multiply both sides by 5x
5*3/5 - 5*x/1 = 5*6
3 - 5 = 30x
-2 = 30x
x= -15?
