Question 399379: I need help with this eqation. [(8a^2b^-1)/(b^2)]^3
I worked it out to..(8a^6b^3)/(b^6)= (8a^6)/(b^-3-6)= (8a^6)/(b^-9)
I also worked it in this form first---8a^6b^-3, and then i just guessed on what to do so i could get b on the bottom.
I know the answer is supposed to be (8a^6)/(b^9) How?

Hi
Might recommend using the following to come up with the solution:
Rules of Exponents:
I.
II.
III.
[(8a^2b^-1)/(b^2)]^3 = 8^3a^6b^-3 / b^6 = 8^3a^6/(b^3)b^6 = 8^3a^6/b^9
