Well if V = (x^2 + 5x + 6)(x + 5), we can factor out the quadratic and get
V = (x + 3)(x + 2)(x + 5)
Since Volume is length times width times depth and we have three factors above, you can choose any two to give the polynomial representative of the area of the base (the third being the depth), including the quadratic we already factored...
