Unfortunately 4y^2 + 12y - 9 = 0 cannot be factored.
I suspect, however, that you might have meant
4y^2 + 12y + 9 = 0 which can be factored as
(2y + 3)(2y + 3) = 0 and
y = -3/2 (double root)
