Hi,
*Note: first eliminate one of the variables and solve for the other.
.
Multiply all terms of second equation by '4'
-12*x+4y=8
Add equations together

-12x + 4y = 8
.
-11x = 11
x = -1
.
solving for y
-3x + y = 2
-3*-1 + y = 2
3 + y = 2
y = -1
