Answer by jordan_ray310408(1)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X^2+6x+5
use x= -b +or - Square root of ( b^2 -4(ac)) OVER 2a
plug in from the problem a= the x^2 term which is 1
b= the x term which is 6

c= the no x term the number which is 5
plug those in therefor -6 +or- square root of 36 - 4(1*5) / 2
-6 +/- square 36-20 / 2
-6 +/- square 16 /2
-6 +/- 4/2
-6 +/- 2
-6-2= -8
or
-6+2= -4

Start off by factoring the x^2, knowing that the factors of 6 are either 5,1 or 3,2 (you will use 5,1 because they add up to 6) then you have to play with your signs, but since you need a positive 5, you will use two negative terms.
(x-5)(x-1)
Then to check yourself
Foil:
x^2-1x-5x+5=
combine like terms:
x^2-6x+5
