If there's one thing you should never forget it's that you CANNOT divide by zero. So if you have something like , this means that (otherwise you'll have a division by zero error). So if we extend this idea to , then we'll notice that the denominator can't be equal to zero.


In other words, . So if you solve the equation , then you'll find the x values that make the denominator equal to zero. So this means that those values will be excluded from the domain.


So your answer will be in the form: "The domain is the set of all real numbers except x cannot equal (the x values that make the denominator zero)"
