Question 34582: I need some clarification on the zero-factor theorem.

I am to solve using the zero-factor theorem the following equation:
1. g^2-3g-18=0 I tried setiing up as g^2-3=0 and -18=0 this did not make sense to me.
and 2. 16d^2=4

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
G~2-3G-18=0 OR (G-6)(G+3)=0 YOU MUST FIRST FACTOR THE EQUATION THEN SET THE TWO FACTORS TO EQUAL 0 SO G=6 & G=-3
16D~2=4 OR 16D~2-4=0 OR(4D-2)(4D+2)=0 THEN 4D=2 OR D=2/4 OR D=1/2 & 4D=-2 OR
D=-2/4 OR D=-1/2
