Question 33950: I need help factoring this:
18x^2 - 27x + 4
Answer by elima(1433) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
18x^2 - 27x + 4
First list all the factors of 18 and 4;
18; 3*6, 9*2, 18*1
4; 1*4,2*2
Now lets look at 3*6 and 1*4;
when we multiply the first number; and the second number together;
3*1=3
6*4=24
The we add the answer together we get 27;
When we first factor, you need to look at the signs; you have a + and a -.
Since the + is the second sign, it means both signs are the same; and since the - is the first, that means both signs are -;
So to begin we have;
(_x-_)(_x-_);
(3x-4)(6x-1)
Hope I was able to help some
=)
