Question 332621: Factor completely if possible
(y-5)^2-36q^2
Thanks so much for you help

Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(y-5)^2-36q^2
Notice the above can be rewritten as:
(y-5)^2-(6q)^2
Now, you have a "difference of squares" which factors to
((y-5)-6q)((y-5)+6q)
Removing inside parentheses:
(y-5-6q)(y-5+6q)
Ordering terms:
(-6q+y-5)(6q+y-5)
