Question 327044: b(b + 16)(b + 3) = 0
can somebody please help me solve using the principle of zero products. please please show all steps I am really slow with algebra

Answer by jessica43(140)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The principle of zero products says, if (x)(y)(z) = 0, either x, y, or z must be equal to zero.
So in this problem:
x = b
y = (b + 16)
z = (b + 3)
Now the principle of zero product says that one of these must equal zero, so we need to set each equal to zero and solve for b. This means you will have three answers for b.
b = 0
So your first answer is b = 0.
b + 16 = 0
b = -16
So your second answer is b = -16.
b + 3 = 0
b = -3
So your third answer is b = -3.
The solutions to make this equation equal zero are b = 0, b = -16, b = -3.
