Question 326298: Hi, I am in a college online math class and I am having much difficulty trying to learn it especially since everything is all online. We are working on learning on Polynominals this week. I hope that I covered any and all fields that I need to here. Thank you!
−4y^2 − 12y

Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Start with:
−4y^2 − 12y
Pull out what's common...we begin by pulling out a negative 1:
-1(4y^2 + 12y)
or it can be written as:
-(4y^2 + 12y)
Next, pull out a 4:
-4(y^2 + 3y)
Finally, pull out a y:
-4y(y + 3)
(-4y)(y + 3)
