Question 325880: 3/(x+4)=2/(x)
Answer by nyc_function(2741)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply both sides of the equation by the LCD.
LCD = (x)(x + 4)
[3/(x+4)] *(x)(x + 4) = (2/x) * (x)(x + 4)
3x = 2(x + 4)
3x = 2x + 8
3x - 2x = 8
x = 8
================================================
The Proof:
Let x = 8
3/(8+4)= 2/(8)
3/12 = 2/8
1/4 = 1/4...It checks!!
We can now say with certainty that the right answer is x = 8.
