for this equation to be 0 each and every bracketed term has to be 0
..
Either x-8 =0 OR x=8
..
OR
(x+9)=0 x=-9
..
OR
(x+4)=0 x=-4
The equation is true for values x=8 OR x=-9 OR x=-4
