Northern maywood voted 60% to 40% in favor of a water project. Southern maywood voted 90% to 10% against the project. The project passed 55% to 45%. If 5900
let people who voted from southern maywood be S
SO people who voted from NORthern maywood = 5900 - S
VOTES FOR PROJECT FROM SOUTHERN MAYWOOD = S*10/100=S/10
VOTES FOR PROJECT FROM NORTHERN MAYWOOD = (5900 - S)*60/100= 6(5900-S)/10
TOTAL VOTES FOR PROJECT =S/10 + 6(5900-S)/10=(S+35400-6S)/10=(35400-5S)/10
PERCENT VOTES FOR THE PROJECT = (35400-5S)*100/(10*5900)=55
35400-5S=55*590
5S = 35400-55*590=2950
S=2950/5=590
