(r-2)^2-(r+2)^2

You can't solve it, it's not an equation.
It might be simplified some.

(r-2)^2-(r+2)^2
One way is to expand everything:

= -8r
---------
Another way is to factor it as a difference of 2 squares:
= [(r-2) + (r+2)]
= 2r * -4
= -8r
