Question 317509: Mary is thinking of two binomials where one is 5 more than the square of a number x and the other is 5 less than the square of a number x. Mary wants you to find the product of the two binomials and evaluate the polynomial for x=3.
Answer by nyc_function(2741)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x^2 + 5)(x^2 - 5)
We use FOIL to multiply.
x^4 -5x^2 + 5x^2 - 25
x^4 - 25.
She then needs to replace x with 3 and evaluate the polynomial x^4 - 25.
Let x = 3.
(3)^4 - 25 = 81 - 25 or 56
Done!
