replace the 1 with
combine the comon fractions
multiply both sides by (x-2) to cancel out the x-2 on the left, also 2+6=8
now multiply both sides by x+2 to cancel out the x+2 on the right
distribute the left side
subtract both the 4x and the 8 from both sides

Now using the quadratic formula:
