one of two supplementary angles is 4 degrees more than one -third of the other angle .
find the measure of each of the angle
:
Let x = one angle
then
(180-x) = the other angle
:
x = (180 - x) + 4
Multiply both sides by 3
3x = 180 - x + 3(4)
3x = 180 - x + 12
3x + x = 192
4x = 192
x =
x = 48 degrees
then
180 - 48 = 132 degrees is the other angle
:
:
See if that fits in the statement;
"one of two supplementary angles is 4 degrees more than one-third of the other"
48 = (132) + 4
48 = 44 + 4
