How would I solve 12b to the second power, minus 8b=0 ?
:
12b^2 - 8b = 0
:
Factor out 4b and you have:
4b(3b - 2) = 0
:
Two solutions
4b = 0
b = 0/4
b = 0
and
3b - 2 = 0
add 2 to both sides:
3b = 2
divide both sides by 3
b =
:
Check solutions in original problem
we know b=0 will satisfy the equation
:
check b =
12(2/3)^2 - 8(2/3) = 0
12(4/9) - 16/3 = 0
48/9 - 16/3 = 0
Reduce the fraction 48/9
16/3 - 16/3 = 0
