Answer by jaydducote(11) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What numbers multiply to get 28 and add or subtract to get 12? Multiples of 28 are 1,2,4,7,14,28. 2x14=28. 14-2=12
x²-12x -28 =
Since the 28 is negative you know you have to use opposite signs. Since the 12 is negative, you know the larger number must be negative:
(x-14)(x+2)=
x=14, x=-2
