Question 278129: Can anyone help with this problem?
2x/x-1 = 5/x-3

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x/(x-1)=5/(x-3) cross multiply.
2x(x-3)=5(x-1)
2x^2-6x=5x-5
2x^2-6x-5x+5=0
2x^2-11x+5=0
(2x-1)(x-5)=0
2x-1=0
2x=1
x=1/2 ans.
x-5=0
x=5 ans.
